Orientation week is the first set of events of every semester, and probably the most important for you. During these events, we are going to help you with all necesary stuff like making transportation tickets, show you the school buildings, but we are also going to welcome you and help you to meet each other. The first informal meeting with other Erasmus+ students and _esno members in one famous Ostravian pub. Let’s take one of the first beers together and talk a little bit.

Welcome ceremony

12:30 in Aula of building B (Českobratrská 16)

Welcome Ceremony is a ‘Welcome to Ostrava and our university’ event. We, ESN Ostravská, will introduce ourselves, explain what the organisation is all about and what we have to offer for the students. Most of the events we prepared for you will be introduced. Furthermore, you will be given an overview of what can you expect from your first days in Ostrava and at the university. You will be able to meet important people from the International Department and your faculty coordinators.

Also, you will have an opportunity to buy Welcome Bag and register and pay 1000 CZK for Get to Know Each Other Weekend. The  Welcome Bag costs 400 CZK and includes: Czech SIM card with 3GB data and unlimited SMS within Vodafone CZ network, ESN card for discounts (40,000 student benefits and discounts in more than 125 countries, 5 – 15% discounts for ESN Ostravská´s big trips), events schedule, step-by-step how to activate internet connection in your dorms, map of Ostrava, some other promo material from University of Ostrava and all this is packed in handy backpack.

Welcome Ceremony is taking place in the Aula room in the building B. If you think you still may have problems finding this place you can ask your Buddy to accompany you there or use your smartphone to look for Českobratrská 16, Moravská Ostrava.
It´s close to the bus stop Husův sad :)

After the ceremony, there will be food prepared for you.

Formality day

Meeting point:
9:30 at the reception of Pedagogical Faculty, building G301 (Mlýnská 5)

We will help you arrange transportation card (if you haven’t done it yet), internet and student ID card. You will need all of this during your stay in Ostrava. For the transportation card you’ll need a passport or international ID and passport photo. Month transportation ticket costs around 200 CZK (depends in which dorms you are staying), the semester one around 900 CZK for whole city. Student ID card is 220 CZK (ISIC card with discounts) or 100 CZK (student card without ISIC license).  Internet connection is 150 CZK per month.

Quiz night

19:45 at "Áčko" club (Kranichova 8)

You are going to make teams and solve tricky questions together. Of course the best team will be rewarded with some extra drinks.

Excursion to Vítkovice

One of the most interesting stuff about Ostrava is it's industrial history. There are also lot of old, abandoned factory buildings. On this event, you will take a look at one of the biggest old industrial areas - "Dolní Vítkovice".

Get to know each other weekend

This weekend offers you a unique opportunity to get to know each other outside of the university environment. Rich programme of sport activities, games and competitions in the nature with a lot of free time in the evening will satisfy both sport lovers and party animals. We leave Ostrava on Friday afternoon and come back on Sunday evening.  After this weekend you won’t be alone, you’ll find lots of friends and your Erasmus+ life will start. Don’t be alone at your dormitory, join us and enjoy a weekend which you definitely won’t forget!!
